Jelly of The Month Club, wooden wick soy wax candle, Christmas candle

    Notes:
    Top - Strawberry, Cranberry
    Middle - Sugar, Orange Rind
    Bottom - Cinnamon, Clove

“Jelly of the Month Club…that's the gift that keeps on giving Clark.”

It's a funny candle with an adorably festive label, but it's a wonderful scent as well. Inspired by a Southern classic Christmas Jam (there is a recipe at the bottom of this listing, feel free to save it).

Christmas Jam is an ice box or hot water bath canned jam made with frozen strawberries, cranberries, lots of Sugar, Orange rind and spices. Gertrude (everyones Georgian Granny at our church) used to make this for gift baskets at Christmas. We used to have it on hot from the oven biscuits on Christmas morning. It works well on a charcuterie board with goat cheese on the side and crispy crackers too.

Available in a reusable 8 ounce Glass Jelly jar with a matte black metal lid.

We are NOT associated with any big box candle manufacturer. Our candles are 100% American made from the soy beans in the wax to the lid on top of the jar, all our ingredients are American made and they are hand poured one at a time, by me and my son in our studio in Monrovia. Jess works full time for us shipping each of your orders one at a time and my husband coordinates all of the shipping and receiving. Not only are you supporting our dream but you are helping purchasing an American made, safely crafted product!
The term wooden wick simply refers to what our candles are lit by, nothing more. We would NEVER want any brand confusion.
We proudly use Lumentique patented wicks from Makesy, Co. exclusively in the making of our candles.

    Christmas Jam

    Prep Time 10 minutes
    Cook Time 1 hour
    Resting Time 12 hours
Total Time 13 hours 10 minutes
Servings 10 (8 ounce) jars approximately

    Ingredients
40 ounces frozen unsweetened strawberries, thawed or partially thawed or 2-½ quarts fresh strawberries, hulled
1 lb. fresh or frozen cranberries, thawed or partially thawed
    Zest from 2 oranges (2T.)
    ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    ½ teaspoon ground cloves
    ¼ teaspoon allspice
    4 lbs. granulated sugar
2 pouches (3 ounces each) liquid fruit pectin

    Instructions
Coarsely chop the strawberries and cranberries in a food processor or grinder (do not puree). It’s fine if you still have some larger chunks of fruit – you can mash them with a potato masher or a wooden spoon while they’re cooking. You don’t want the fruit totally pureed, because this is jam (not syrup or jelly!) – and it should have some chunky pieces of fruit throughout.
Transfer the fruit to a large Dutch oven. Add orange zest, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and sugar.
Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Once the mixture comes to a full rolling boil, continue the boil for exactly 1 minute.
Remove from the heat; stir in pectin and return to a full rolling boil. Once the mixture returns to a full rolling boil, set a timer and boil for exactly 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.
Cool for 5 minutes; skim off the foam. At this point, the mixture will still be quite thin – it will not look like a thick jam. That’s fine! It will thicken and set as it cools.
Carefully ladle the hot mixture into hot, sterilized half-pint jars, leaving ¼-inch of headspace. Wipe the rims clean with a damp cloth; secure the lids. Process in a water bath for 10 minutes.
Carefully remove the jars to a towel on the counter. Let stand, undisturbed, for 12 hours at room temperature. Check the seals after 12 hours by pressing the center of the lids. If the lid gives or the center button remains popped up, store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Properly sealed jars will keep in a cool, dark place for up to 8 months. Refrigerate after opening.
    Notes
Weigh the berries, or use package weight measurements. In canning, the ratio of sugar to acid is important to create a safe product that properly sets. To account for differences in produce size, I always recommend weighing your strawberries and cranberries to make sure that you have the proper amount.
Thaw the frozen fruit in the fridge overnight, or use partially-thawed fruit. I find that the partially-thawed fruit is perfectly fine for chopping in a high-power processor without as much juicy mess.
Do not purée the fruit in the food processor. Just pulse the berries to chop them into smaller pieces. If you have some larger chunks left, you can always mash them in the pot with a potato masher.
The zest is the outer layer of the orange peel, which holds all of the flavorful essential oils. Be careful not to grate off any of the white pith underneath, which has a bitter taste.
It's important to boil the fruit mixture with the pectin for exactly 1 minute. If you overcook the pectin, it may break down and fail to gel.
Leave ¼-inch of headspace in each jar. The proper amount of headspace is important to ensure a vacuum seal. If there's too little headspace, the jam may expand and bubble out when air is being forced out from under the lid during processing.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I trim and light my wooden wick?

Check out our blog for care and burning tips
    www.teresalynns.com/blog

If lighting seems difficult, the wick is too far above the surface of the wax when the candle is initially lit. Always light at the wax level, not the top of the wick.

Solution: Make sure the wick is trimmed to be no longer than 1/8” – 3/16” / 6.4mm – 4.8mm above the wax. This seems counterintuitive, as we think a longer wick will make a larger flame, but it will not. The longer the wick, the harder it is for the wax to flow up to the top.

    Shipping costs

Everyone in the US gets a deal on shipping with our all for one shipping cost of no more than $10.00! Whether you purchase 1 or 1001 items your cost doesn't change! This saves the average order between $5-10 per order (way more outside the midwest)!

    Are Soy Candles Safe?

Now let’s talk about wax. Unless you are eating your candles (which you shouldn’t be) you don’t need to worry about them being produced with “Organic Soy wax”. This is good because organic soy wax doesn’t exist.

The process of converting the oil into a wax itself renders the wax ineligible for organic certification. Even if a manufacture used the 5-9% of soybeans grown in the USA that are Organic Bean, the process itself makes them not organic.
Should you worry about this? The simple answer is no, soy wax is safe. You should worry about a company that claims their soy candles are organic. We use wax made with only Renewable Midwest Grown Soybeans.

We use only phthalate free fragrance oils and essential oil blends in our products.

    Return to Sender packages

Packages received back to us as RTS (Return to Sender) may be resent at your request by purchasing a postage listing customized for your parcel with a verified address.

We are not responsible for invalid addresses, forwarded mail or refused parcels and will not refund or pay return shipping.

Return postage will be calculated at our actual cost, not the discounted rate of $10.00 we offer on original purchases.

We will contact you via messages with a link to the shipping listing which will be active for 100 days.

After the 100 day period the listing will expire and the parcel contents will be donated to a local charity when appropriate.

    Allergy and sensitivities

We use products that may be made with nuts, dairy, soy, plant materials, essential oils and fragrances.

There is always the possibility for cross exposure within our studio/lab. People with sensitivities or allergies should consider avoiding scented and fragrances products.

Are scented candles and skincare products triggers for asthma or allergies?
Although millions of Americans regularly use scented products without any negative effects, it is always possible that a particular fragrance might trigger a negative reaction in a very small percentage of sensitive individuals. Individuals with known sensitivities to specific fragrances may want to avoid products with scents.

How long do our candles burn?

The burn time for our candles varies based different variables, such as wax type. wick size, fragrance and type of vessel used. As a general average, they burn an average 7-9 hours per ounce of wax.
Following our candle care and instruction guide will give you the best burn from each candle. Be sure to read and follow your candle care card included with your order.

    Returns

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, with labels, and in its original packaging.

To start a return, you may contact us through Etsy Messages. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label as well as instructions on how to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Return shipping label cost will be deducted from your refund. Original shipping is not refundable.

A $5.00 supplies fee applies to all returns.
Please keep in mind, the cost to return your item will likely be more than your discounted original shipping cost. We always suggest gifting your item to save yourself the shipping cost.
