Mugwort (Artemisia absinthium) Common Wormwood is an herb I could not go without in my trick bag.
Referred to as “The Old Crone” this herb had a wide range of uses from medicinal to spiritual.
Like the Granny women in our lineage, this salve is the go to for wisdom and hugs.
Brought to the Eastern United States by European settlers, this plant quickly took roots in the Appalachian Mountains and became a staple of medicine gardens.

The Wormwood species of Mugwort is used to distill Absinthe for its hallucinogenic properties and her relaxing properties.

When infused into a salve her medicine can penetrate deep into your tissues allowing for pain relief in muscles and sore joints.

These properties make this herbs oils the perfect bedtime companion for people who deal with chronic pain, insomnia, exhaustion and wakeful sleep. 🌿😴 Apply to sore joints and rub in a dime sized amount at bedtime to aid in morning stiffness.

Apply to neck and nape of neck for exhaustion and nighttime waking.
Massage on abdomen to aid with menstrual cramps and prolonged periods.
When applied to the forehead and temples, her medicine is used to illicit lucid dreams, dream retention and memory.

I make my mugwort salve with lavender essential oil and bud infusion to add to her relaxing powers at the bedside. Arnica oil to ease pain, allowing for restful sleep.

I create this in a base of Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil and Hemp Seed Oil to add to the skin softening and anti aging benefits of this herbal infusion.

All ingredients are cruelty free as well as responsibly sourced and harvested.

Frequently Asked Questions

My wick is difficult to light, or won’t stay lit the first few times.

The wick is too far above the surface of the wax when the candle is initially lit – Solution: Make sure the wick is trimmed to be no longer than 1/4” – 3/16” / 6.4mm – 4.8mm above the wax. This is counterintuitive, as we think a longer wick will make a larger flame, but it will not. The longer the wick, the harder it is for the wax to flow up to the top.

Are Soy Candles Safe?

Now let’s talk about wax. Unless you are eating your candles (which you shouldn’t be) you don’t need to worry about them being produced with “Organic Soy wax”. This is good because organic soy wax doesn’t exist.

The process of converting the oil into a wax itself renders the wax ineligible for organic certification. Even if a manufacture used the 5-9% of soybeans grown in the USA that are Organic Bean, the process itself makes them not organic.
Should you worry about this? The simple answer is no, soy wax is safe.

You should worry about a company that claims their soy candles are organic.
We use wax made with only Midwest Grown Soybeans.
