Our Joshua Tree Grounding candle line is made with the intention of assisting with spiritual and soulful grounding.

What is spiritual grounding?

Spiritual grounding means having a solid spiritual connection to Mother Earth. Because all humans are forms or beings of energy, it is our natural tendency to drift or float on other currents. This is a problem when it becomes more of a constant. Now, drifting or floating around may sound like a lot of fun, it can be very distracting and disruptive. Not being grounded, or being ungrounded can have some rather nasty side effects including, inattention, inability to focus, sleep disturbance, anxiety and even physical symptoms from headaches to exhaustion.

Grounding is a process where you establish a deep connection with the earth. Classic grounding is performed by being barefoot on the earth, visualizing roots growing from your heart to deep within the earth. This isn't always practical due to weather, location and your own personal health. There are many ways to do this, without going outside in a snow storm barefooted and having the neighbor think you've cracked up.

Here is my way for those times I can't stand with my feet in the grass:

Start in a cleansed space – You can do this by smudging or simply mopping your floors. See our blog on smudging

Make time - If you are a busy birth or earth Momma you may need to set time aside just before bed or soon after waking, when the rest of the home is asleep or occupied. Be sure to leave enough time to complete this process (you will find your time needed, mine is around 15 minutes)

Ambiance- Light your The Joshua Tree candle and if desired play music that invokes nature for you.

Get yourself comfortable – Sit or lie down in a comfortable position, pajamas, work clothes, yoga pants or no pants, you decide.

Close your eyes- Visualize yourself in your happy place close to the Earth.

Relax- Take some deep, slow breaths, in through your nose and slowly out your mouth, feel your chest rise and fall and start to imagine a seed growing in your chest.

Feet – If you are standing or sitting where you can place your bare feet on the floor do so.

Sitting- If sitting is better for you, do that, the closer to the ground the better.

Visualize your grounding – This is where your inner Hippie gets to shine. Remember that seed I told you to plant earlier, the one in your chest? Let that baby start growing. It grows strong and wild from your chest through your stomach, down your root chakra (booty) into the earth if you are sitting. If you are standing, it grows down your legs, out your feet and deep into the earth.

These roots and strong and deep, just like those of the Joshua Tree himself. Let the rotes grow wide and deep for as long as you need to imagine yourself fully grounded with the Earth.

Remain in this state until you feel that no storm you face will move you. You are grounded, solid and strong, you thrive in in climate weather, storms don't phase you, climate is no matter and you are one with the earth.

Practice this daily (if you have time), develop a quick session for those emergency times when others' energies are shaking you... and above all, teach others this skill.

We strive to create candles that are pet friendly as we share our little piece of the Earth with three adorable French Bulldogs (known for their sensitive respiratory systems).

Our candles are 100% soy wax, paraben and phthalate-free, paraffin and palm oil free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Always consult your veterinarian to be certain that candles can be used in the same space with your familiar and exercise caution with open flames around them.


----CANDLE BURNING INSTRUCTIONS----

The basics of lighting and enjoying your wooden wick candle are simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

✂It is IMPORTANT to trim a wooden wick to 1/8” – 3/16”, and no longer. If the wick is too long, the wax will not pull up the wick, and the flame will dim or even extinguish.

⛔️NEVER remove wax from around the wick, it starves the wick and creates a tunnel.

If your wooden wick is extinguishing shortly after lighting it, trimming is the problem.

Simply give it a trim with wick trimmers, nail clippers or simply snap the char off with your fingers or tap if off with your lighter and remove the wick bits, light it at the wax level and you'll be crackling away!!

Are scented candles and skincare products triggers for asthma or allergies?
Although millions of Americans regularly use scented products without any negative effects, it is always possible that a particular fragrance might trigger a negative reaction in a very small percentage of sensitive individuals. Individuals with known sensitivities to specific fragrances may want to avoid products of those scents. In addition, consumers should remember to burn all candles, whether scented or unscented, in a well-ventilated area and test skincare products in a small area before use.


**Cleaning out your candle jar to reuse it


Hot water can be used to easily and safely remove wax. Place the candle on a stable surface protected with a towel or newspaper.

Use a spoon to remove as much wax as you can. Pour very hot water into the container ( I use a regular fill from my coffee pod machine), leaving room at the top. The hot water will melt the wax and it will float to the top.

Let the water cool overnight and simply pop out the wax “cookie” that formed on top of the water.

Strain the water to get rid of any small wax bits (Don’t pour wax down the drain) !
I pour mine into a used coffee filter after I’ve brewed a pot and toss the filter, coffee and wax (remove wick tab) into my compost.

Wipe any remaining wax and clean with hot soap and water or pop it in the dishwasher.**

SUMMER ADVISORY- During the hot summer temps your products may benefit from shipping Monday through Wednesday to keep them from sitting in hot temps during transit (packages don't typically move on Saturday or Sunday). If you would like us to hold your parcel to allow it to start its trip on these days, let us know via messages and we will happily help you with this.
Be sure to allow your products to cool off in the air conditioned air prior to use.
